My Daily Impala SS Diary
My struggle to join the Darkside of the Force

Sept 8 Well if you have been reading this every day. This is it. The End. I have left behind my cozy desk job to work in audio in Hollywood. I'll be broke or basking in money in three months. The future is uncertain at best. Hopefully all the hard work in my home studio and late nights reading & recording will payoff.  A steady gig in Hollyweird could give me the money forthe Darkside and in to get into the 12's. Music and recording is my first passion I now have my shot to make it my lifes work. Need to get a hold of me try ProTools4@aol.com 714-282-8386.
Sept 8 I pick my SS up from Ostrum tomarrow and take it oto ICS to get pain done.
Sept 7 Ostrum says the wheel shop has two of my rims. Funny, Hmmm Bill told me Last Friday the wheel shop was picking up all four when I asked. So much for detailed damage assesment. Not to mention he lied to me.

Aug 8 SoCalSS cruise to Santa Barbara. Jener and I go with Justin and it was too cool. 3 miles of Impala SS's on the 101!!! 80 cars. What an awesome sight and sound. Talk about adding Legend of the SS. Imagine sitting at a stop light in a 5.0 and SSe's roll by for 3 min.

Aug 2 The Tay kicks it at the hey-ouse and we talk DFI and Iron vs Aluminum heads. Tay and Jener say fight the ticket. I think It's easier to send a check. There most likely correct.

June 22 Drove the SS down to Mesa Performance and picked up brake pads for the 911.
June 21 SShe still needs an alignment and a good brake bleed.
June 21

Cleaned all  the oil and grime out of my new intake plenum before band practice. Now it's ready to port and polish.
June 20
5:00
Jener with Dog and Martys help replaces all her vacuum hoses on her Volvo Turbo 740 wagon. performance regained. Thanx guyz!
June 20
3:00
Dog, Jener and I meet at The Tay's hey-ouse for lunch. Dog core exchanges me his old intake plenum for preemptive turbo port and polish.
June 20 I find over an inch of play on the A-arm connection bolts. I'm missing shims so the alignment is off, but I tightened it down. Now that the car brakes straight I can feel all the air in the brakes. <DOH!>  Looks like I get to bleed the brakes this Saturday.
June 19
9:20
On the way home the Tercel <loaded to capacity> in front is tail gating and rapidly changing lanes. So I Wig-Wag him from a safe distance. He pulls to the slow lane with the I'm F-d look on his face. Ha ha!!!! even Dad thought it was funny.
June 19
9:00
My clunk under braking is real loud and the car is not braking straight. :-(
June 19 Met a guy <Chris> at a birthday party who teaches motor technologies. We talked about my Turbo project and he suggest purchasing a crate LT-1 and building it on a stand. And keep the OEM LT-1 for smog inspections. I know he's right but two motors is out of my budget and pulling a LT-1 for a smog check is not my idea of fun. He also said the see what the stock cam does then look into flowing the heads then look into the 114 degree cam. quote "you never know you could be happy with the stock heads and cam once there under pressure"
June 18 The Tay orders brakes fluid for the Triad
June 17
8:40
Drive the SS to see Mickey Big Mouth at the Hard Rock in L.A. Trans seems fine. Low temps no shutter. Hmmmmm
June 17

Power outage at work delays <unsaved> daily turbo update.
June 17
8:20
Steve at BTODrive says he's pretty sure that the TC clutch is hosed or the springs that actuate the lock up are going to fail preeminently soon.
June 17
5:10 AM
On the way to work my SS wont go into TC lock up. SShe shutters like crazy. Pull off at Katella and steams is coming from the trans. Let her cool for 20 min. and head to Selman Chevy on Chapman but problem is gone. Trans temp 140. Drive to work like normal. Hmmmmm.
June 16 Justin's heat shielding install goes great. We finish off the night with some  Grand Turismo. Justin drives Civics well. Watch out Albert!

I think I'll take the agro street stuff down a notch or two and save all my skills and adrenaline for the poor Jap import racers at Button Willow. <G>

June 16
6:20 PM
Cruising down La Palma at 35MPH <10 under!> a girl in a Rav 4 runs a stop onto the La Palma <while on her cell phone> and I lock um up and make yet on other white cloud. <my new American Indian name>
June 16
6:10 PM
On the Back side of my hill heading out of the track there is a sweeping up hill crescent that leads into a light S chicane. A Benz zips by pretty fast. I say to Dog "You think I can catch him?" I concisely wait 4 seconds to give him some distance then pursue at WOT. Haling but up the crescent the G-tech is saying .8 G's and that 6 hamster 3.2ltr is making a nice sound.
Just before entering the S we get visual on the Benz wussing out, in the brakes and going 20MPH! Lets discuss: I have Dog in the passenger seat so there's an extra 2 bills loading the suspension so the front right tire is screaming And! Did I mention  the front driver side caliper on the 911 is DEAD?!?!!!

**Quick** I let of the gas stick her in neutral - weight shifts forward - the ass want to come around but I keep the line - Benz is less than 40 feet away - no choice light braking applied - still eating up buffer distance fast and 30% counter steer we're sideways and going to still smack the Benz in the rear - at this point I could let off the brakes and straighten her out as I pass in the S turn but there's two NICE cars parked evenly on each side of the chicane - 25 feet and closing - **Decision** - 100 % brakes / 80% counter steer - about 10 feet from the Benz we come to a dead stop faced backward 150 degrees sideways -looking over my shoulder the Benz coasts off totally clueless - as if I didn't make a big cloud of white smoke and a bunch of noise right behind him.   ...... wwwwheeew......

Dog's says something like " You'r screwing with me. Right?"
Me "You ever spun out before?"
Dog"No."
making a u turn tobe on our way
Me "You NEVER spun out before?"
Dog"Well ......No."
Pulling up behind the Benz at the stop light
"What about just two wheels?
Dog"Oh. yha all the time. pause But not in my SS"

June 16
6:00 PM
Wed. Mod Night only Justin <AKA Big Dog > shows. His fuel lines need to depressurize so we head to the store in the 911.
June 15 Out sick from work, no sick pay! Darn I need that cash.
June 14 Heinz E-mails me back and says his pipes aren't the TT fashion. Looks Like I was wrong.
June 14 I E-mail and fax my Cross over pipe cooking TC fluid theory to BTOD. Hz. and Mark Boggs. BTOD seemed to support what I had to say let's see what Hz. and Mark have to say.
June 13 Cant get a hold of Dog so Marty and I clean, polish, and wax his BMW and my 911< the 230k + beaters> for 5 hours. They needed it Bad!
June 12 Albert and I find out that Santa Fe St. in Hesperia is not level enough for G-tech runs. So I throw rocks at the "Caution Train Tracks: sign as Bert gives Beth the 411 on his cel phone. Later that I day I prove My Grand Turismo skills. Wana Play 4 Money?
June 12 Albert drives me to BTOD SS now has reverse and works great. No NHRA flex plate <again> via late shipping
June 11 Plans to pick up my SS from BTOD tomorrow at 8:00 Albert's going to drive me out there. And I get to try out the G-tech :-)
June 10 More info added to the Technical Area
June 9
6:20
On the way home there was money blowing in the wind and all over the street. God just donated $23 to the Turbo fund. :-)
June 9
5:00
Justin's SS Dynoed 309RWHP with a 1000RPM range above 300! Dog was a little depressed. In contrast the guys running the dyno wanted to know "What ja done to da motor?" Thay also said to get an air foil. Cause they ussually see +12HP with them.
June 9 It's Wednesday thats Mod Night! @ 5:00 Dog's SS goes on the Dyno.
Come back tomorrow and find out what it did.
June 8 Friend of the family asks about buying my 88 Isuzu Pu-p on payments.
Please God! I need the cash flow for the air flow.
June 7 Steve Holmes owner of BTOD tells me I cooked the reverse clutches and popped a seal. BFD. New parts :-)
June 6 Dog drops by. We head out to the hills to burn out his Nitto 555DRs.
Seems there way sticky even with the new parts and bleach water on the tires and ground he couldn't break them loose.
June 5 99
6 ish P.M.
We pull upto Marty's hey-ouse. And I talk the Tay into giving Dog a little ride in his Turbo 944 that is SCCA prepped. Dog got the ride of his life and that's with street tires in front. Later on the way to food I line up with Dog's SS in my 911 again. With Marty as ballast and a bigger 911 launch I stay right at Justin's rear door. Still the win goes to Justin's LT-4 monster. Maybe that 12.4 G-tech reading isn't so far off.?.
June 5 99 Justin new LT-4 parts SS pulls F-in' hard. Albert goes for a ride and comes back green and queasy. We pick up my 83' 911SC. I line up 911SC to LT-4 Joe Prince Ported Dog Sled. Jener counts to 3 and Dog gets a jump on me of about 12 feet but can't put any distance between us. Win>>>Dog!
June 5 99
10:30
BTOD rocks. Disassembled 4LE60 and trans dyno on display. We leave my SS and take Albert's home. His new SLP TC and TansGo KICKS @SS!
June 5 99 Get to Justin place. Guess what no Reverse! good thing were headed to
BTOD. Pick up Al-Berto in L.A. and then hop on the 10 to the 15. Hesperia here we come.
June 5 99 6:20 Wake up and wash my SS. Plan on air dry so I nail it  to the Dog Pound.
June 4 99 Lots of E-mail with Albert and Justin<AKA Big Dog> Looks like I'm driving us to the SoCalSS event at BowTie Overdrive Sat. morning.
